Tapie au coin du bois, cette bestiole sort de l&rsquo;ombre \u00e0 l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e des beaux jours et pullule dans nos contr\u00e9es, du mois d&rsquo;avril au mois d&rsquo;octobre. \u00abToutes les r\u00e9gions sont concern\u00e9es, hormis le littoral m\u00e9diterran\u00e9en, pr\u00e9vient Pierre Josu\u00e9, m\u00e9decin \u00e0 la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration fran\u00e7aise de la randonn\u00e9e p\u00e9destre. Elles sont tr\u00e8s actives en journ\u00e9e, sous une temp\u00e9rature mod\u00e9r\u00e9e, entre 10 et 25\u00b0C, mais rares en altitude.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Ces acariens h\u00e9matophages sont des r\u00e9servoirs d&rsquo;agents infectieux. Elles se nourrissent du sang de leurs h\u00f4tes pour accomplir leur mue et assurer leur reproduction. La plus redoutable est celle qui s\u00e9vit en Europe : Ixodes ricinus, parce qu&rsquo;elle est vecteur de la m\u00e9ningo-enc\u00e9phalite \u00e0 tiques et de la maladie de Lyme. Si l&rsquo;on ne signale que tr\u00e8s rarement des cas de MET en France, on y recense 5 000 \u00e0 10 000 cas d&rsquo;infection de borr\u00e9liose de Lyme chaque ann\u00e9e. Le mal se manifeste par une forte fatigue, des douleurs articulaires, des troubles neurologiques et cardiaques.<\/p>\n<p>Pour transmettre la maladie de Lyme, Ixodes ricinus doit \u00eatre porteuse de la bact\u00e9rie et rester suffisamment de temps accroch\u00e9e &#8211; plus de vingt-quatre heures &#8211; \u00e0 sa cible. Sa morsure est indolore et peut passer inaper\u00e7ue. Puis une inflammation locale de la peau, une aur\u00e9ole rouge, devrait appara\u00eetre et s&rsquo;\u00e9tendre progressivement. Il faut alors vite consulter. Trait\u00e9e rapidement par antibiotiques, la maladie ne laisse aucune s\u00e9quelle.
